Menumate was founded in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1990. The system also takes reservations and can handle stock ordering and menu planning, as well as tracking sales and staff output. Orders entered into one Palm are immediately accessible to all the others, so waiting staff can serve any table knowing the exact status of orders. This eliminates the need to transfer information from paper." He says restaurants can tailor the system by entering their own menus and prices. "All order details are held in the host computer system and can be added to or changed at any time. "Replacing the old pen-and-paper system increases restaurant efficiencies and reduces slippage," says IQWorks director Andrew Gregor. The data is used again to prepare the customer's bill and is also fed into the restaurant's accounting system.
